Want to learn more about the disability sector and better understand the challenges that people living with a disability face day-to-day?
Well, there is a free eLearning course that you can do through Disability Awareness:
"The promotion of disability awareness in our workplaces and communities is vital in establishing a society where people with disability are valued and included. For much of history, people with disability have experienced discrimination and stigma, often primarily associated with society’s misconceptions about their ability."
This feedback was recently received by a support worker, which is a good example of how support workers can work alongside children under NDIS to learn and perform domestic duties, such as cooking and cleaning, supported under NDIS.
My teen daughter had her first official day with a support worker today. When I got home I was so blown away. They had cleaned her room, done washing together, she showed her how to use the dryer and they'd folded her clothes and put them away together. My daughter said mum I had so much fun today. She's such a lovely caring lady, I just wanted to share. My daughter refuses to do a anything for me.
Its was so lovely to see such a caring support worker.
